Introduction

The Portal Settings section in KnowledgeCity LMS allows you to customize how your learning portal looks, feels, and functions. This is where you control the public-facing side of your LMS from the featured categories on your homepage to login methods, brand colors, and email communications. Proper configuration here ensures your portal reflects your organization's identity while providing a seamless experience for your learners.

Requirements

  • KnowledgeCity LMS Super Admin: Required to access and modify Portal Settings.

  • Account type considerations: Familiarity with your account type (Content-Only or SCORM) as some settings may not be available.

  • Category Manager configuration: Categories must be set up before configuring featured categories in General and Branding settings.

  • Brand assets ready: Logo files and brand color codes prepared before starting.

  • Email logo asset: Email logo image in PNG or JPG format ready.

Steps to Access

Accessing Portal Settings

Follow the steps below to access the Portal Settings section:

  1. Log in to your KnowledgeCity LMS as a Super Admin.

  2. Locate the Settings dropdown menu on the top panel of the LMS interface.

  3. From the dropdown, select Portal Settings. This will open the Portal Settings page displaying all available configuration tabs.

The Portal Settings page, you will see the following tabs: General, Login, Website branding, App branding, and Emails. Depending on your account type, you may see all or some of these tabs.

General Settings

The General tab controls the basic information displayed on your portal homepage. Here you can configure the Featured categories section, including its title and subtitle with translation support for multiple languages. You can also add a Google Analytics Tracking ID to track user behavior on your portal and a live preview on the right shows how your changes will impact the portal.

Login Settings

The Login tab manages how users access your portal. Here you can configure login methods, enable SSO authentication, and set access options like allowing users to request access or requiring login to view the portal. This tab also houses all SSO connection configurations, including KC as Service Provider (SP and OAUTH) and KC as Identity Provider (IdP).

Branding Settings (Website & App)

The branding settings control the visual identity of your portal across web and mobile platforms. Under Website Branding, you can upload logos (header, favicon, loader), set portal colors (primary, secondary, footer), and configure the banner slider on your homepage. Under App Branding, you can set the app logo and colors (primary, secondary, navigation bar) that appear in your mobile app experience.

Email Settings

The Emails tab ensures all your email communications carry your brand identity. Here you can upload an email logo, manage the sender name and email address, toggle footer text, and manage the list of admins who receive incoming email notifications.
