The Course List feature of the KnowledgeCity LMS enables administrators to create and organize structured collections of individual courses. Using the Course List Manager, administrators can group selected courses into a single list and assign them to learners or groups as part of structured learning paths. This article explains what course lists are, their purpose within the LMS, and provides step-by-step instructions on how to create and manage them.
Steps to Follow
Accessing the User Groups Section
Log in to your KnowledgeCity LMS as an administrator.
Navigate to the "Course Lists" section from the LMS left-side panel.
The Course Lists section will open, displaying a list of all existing course lists.
Course List Section: Controls and Listing
Opening the main Course Lists section displays a table of all existing course lists within your KnowledgeCity LMS. For each course list, you can see key information like the Course List Name and the number of Courses it contains. Additionally, you will see the following controls to manage your course lists:
Create Course List: Click the Create Course List button located in the top right corner to begin creating a new course list. You can also add course lists directly from a Learning Path (How to Create a New Course List and Add it to a Learning Path).
Search Bar: Simply type a Course List Name or keyword into the search bar and the table below will instantly update to show only matching results.
Course List Name: To view or edit the details of any course list, simply click on its Course List Name in the list. This will open that specific course list's details page, where you can modify its contents and settings.
Courses Column: This column displays the total number of individual courses included within each specific course list.
Actions (Edit/ Delete): For each course list, the Actions menu provides quick options to Edit the course list or Delete it entirely.
Bulk Actions: Use the checkboxes on the left side of the table to select multiple course lists at once. Once selected, you can perform a Bulk Action removal to delete several course lists simultaneously.
Creating a New Course List
When you click the Create Course List button, it automatically opens the Course List Detail Page where you can configure your new course list. The Course List Detail Page features two key sections: Main Information with a pin button, name field, translation option, and category toggle with parent dropdown, and the Courses section showing the total course count with options to add new courses, remove existing ones, or drag and drop to reorder added courses.
Course List Name: Enter/ Edit the name for your course list in this field. (maximum 100 characters allowed)
Translate: Click the Translate button under the name field to add translated versions of the course list name for multilingual support.
Create Category for Portal Course Library: Enable this toggle to add the course list to the Portal Library as a subcategory. When enabled, a dropdown menu appears, allowing you to select the desired parent category. The selected parent category determines where the course list appears within the Portal Library. New parent categories can only be created in the Category Manager.
Add courses: Click this button to open the course selection popup window where you can search and select courses to include in your list.
Delete/Drag to Move Added Courses: Within the Courses section, click the delete icon if you want to remove individual added courses or drag handle to reorder them.
Remove Course List: At the bottom of the Course List Detail Page, Remove Course List button is available to delete the entire course list.
Adding Courses to Your List
When you click the Add courses button, a popup window appears where you can select the courses you want to include in your course list.
Search for Courses: Use the search field at the top to find specific courses by name or ID. The list will automatically update to show matching results.
Browse and Select Courses: Review the list of available courses showing the Course Name, ID, and Action column. Click the Add button next to any course you want to include in your list.
Note: Courses already added will show an Added status.Confirm Selection: Once you have selected all desired courses, click the Add courses button at the bottom to add them to your course list.
Cancel: Click Cancel to close the pop-up without adding any courses.
After adding, the selected courses will appear in the Courses section of your course list.
