Introduction
The Leaderboard and My Points features in Portal 2.0 are designed to enhance learner motivation and engagement by tracking performance and progress. Users can view their total points, see how they rank among peers, and understand how daily activity and course completion contribute to their overall achievements.
Requirements
Before using the Leaderboard feature, ensure the following:
✅ The Leaderboard option is enabled in the Account Settings.
✅ “Show leaderboard on My Learning page” is activated in the LMS.
✅ The user has access to at least one active course in the Portal.
✅ The Portal script for tracking student progress is running.
Steps to Follow
After logging in to your KnowledgeCity portal, go to the My Learning section.
There, you'll see two key areas: My Points and the Leaderboard. These sections provide insight into your activity and how it contributes to your overall progress.
Leaderboard Section
The Leaderboard lets you see where you rank among other learners. It’s broken down into the top performers and your own position, no matter where you stand.
Highlights Include:
Medals for Top 3: Gold, Silver, and Bronze themes with custom avatars.
You’re Always Visible: Even if you’re not in the top five, you’ll still see yourself in the list, marked with "Me."
Total Points Displayed: Clearly see how many points you and others have earned.
Encouraging Messages: Depending on your rank, the system will cheer you on with a tailored message.
Example Messages:
"Great job! You're at the top!"
"Good work, just a little more push!"
"At the bottom? Not for long! Keep working toward the top!"

My Points Section Overview
The My Points section appears on the “My Learning” page and displays a summary of your total earned points when a user click on Show all.
Circle Widget
This colorful circular chart shows your total points and breaks them down into two categories:
Daily Activity Points (shown in black)
Course Completion Points (shown in your portal's theme color)
It's a quick and visual way to understand how your daily efforts and course completions add up.
Motivation Message
Depending on your activity for the day, you’ll see:
A motivational message if you haven’t done anything yet — a friendly nudge to get started.
A congratulatory message if you’ve been active — a boost of encouragement!
Example Messages:
"You’re off to a great start!"
"Impressive work today! Keep that energy up!"
How Points are Awarded
The “How points are awarded“ button is designed to redirect the user to the FAQ page (Frequently Asked Questions), which explains in detail how points are awarded for various actions in the system.
User without today’s daily activity
This block is designed to inform the user that no activity has been performed today, and invite him to start training in order to earn more points and gain new knowledge.
Clicking on “Start learning“ button has 2 conditions and can leads to:
Assignments tab if he have assigned trainings
Learning library page if he hasn’t
Activity list
On this page you can see your activity on completing the courses.
Your activity includes the following types of events:
Course Passed – marks the courses that you have successfully completed. A green icon with a check mark indicates the successful completion of the course.
Course Viewed – displays the courses that you have viewed. The eye icon indicates that the course has been viewed but not completed.
Test passed - marks the courses in which you have successfully passed the certification test. A green icon with a check mark indicates the successful completion of the Certification test in specific course.
Daily Activity – shows the total number of points received for completing daily tasks
Course name
The list shows courses that have been viewed or completed, or in which a separate Сertification test has been passed and for which points have been awarded. Each course has a hyperlink to its details and by clicking on the course name, you can return to the course page to re-study or get more information.
Archived and removed courses - don’t have hyperlink and when you hover the mouse over the name of such a course, a tooltip appears with an explanation.
Expected Result
Users can:
Track total and detailed learning points.
Compare their ranking with peers on the leaderboard.
Receive motivational messages and visual feedback for activity.
Access direct links to their course achievements.
