How to Configure Additional Certification Test Settings

Summary

This article explains all the Additional settings for certification tests.

Introduction

These settings give you more control and flexibility when building assessments in your courses by offering multiple options like setting a minimum passing score, shuffling questions or answers, showing learners their scores, and defining a time limit - on a per-test basis. These enhancements make it easier to tailor each certification to your training goals and create a more effective learning experience.

Requirements

A lesson-type course shall be created under courses > custom courses in the LMS.

Steps to Follow

  1. In your LMS, go to courses and click on the desired course to open details. Then navigate to the Certification test tab to access the settings.

  3. Question Limit: Set how many questions will appear in a certification test. If your question bank is large, you can choose a limit - such as 10 or 20 - so only a selected number of questions are pulled into each test attempt.

  4. Minimum Passing Score: Set a custom passing score for each test. If not added - the default passing score will be set to 70. The user would have to score equal or more than mentioned value in the Minimum passing score, in order to pass the certification test

  5. Shuffle Questions: Enabling this option would shuffle the questions order when the user re-attempts the test

  6. Shuffle Answers: Enabling this would shuffle the answer options in order when the user re-attempts the test

  7. Show Score: Choose whether users/students can view their score after completing the test. When enabled, the score is displayed at the end; when disabled, the score remains hidden.

  8. Customize attempt limit: Enable this toggle to set an attempt limit for each test individually. When not set, the default be used as set for your account settings.

  9. Limit time to duration: Enable this toggle to set a specific time limit for each test individually. Enter the duration in seconds, and once the time expires, the student’s attempt will automatically be marked as completed, regardless of how many questions they have answered.

  10. Lesson bypass for certification test: The selected users/groups will be able to take the test without watching/completing all the course lessons. By default, it will be set to No one - which can be changed to All users or Specific users and groups

  11. Once all changes are configured for a test, hit Save changes to finish.

Expected Result

The configured settings for each course - such as time limits, question limits, and passing score - will be shown to the user on the portal before they begin the test, ensuring they are aware of the rules and expectations.
